Welcome to another exciting installment of Fic Friday. This is our second and I’ve decided I’ll do these twice a month. So you’ve heard it here: twice a month, you get my thoughts on fanfic. Those two weeks are not planned as in, it could be two weeks in a row at the start of the month, two weeks at the end of the month, or alternating Fridays.

Anyway, for this installment, we get to – I get to talk about a new fic that my friends wrote. And like that won’t always be the case, you know, posting something that a friend wrote, but my friends are so talented, that you know, I kind of want to talk them up all the time.

So for this second installment of Fic Friday, we are doing “the way you look is so right for me” by spacebeyonce, Dom ,who is one of my best friends in fandom and has been for a very long time, like, most of a decade, I feel that’s pretty long for me, I think.

So Dom has been talking about writing the story for a hot minute now and got it out today on what is Vash’s birthday like in this household, we celebrate fictional characters’ birthdays, you know? We do.

So this is everything! like I love Dom’s writing normally, and getting this story and getting to beta read it and just like scream at Dom… like I literally left Dom a voice message on Discord around the like, fourth time that that Vash edges, Meryl, like screaming like, “I’m gonna fight Vash and then I’m gonna fight you”. Because I just felt like so bad for Meryl, but like in a positive, life affirming hornt way, like, Dom really hit it out of the park. Like the sense of frustration and eagerness in those scenes was just really delicious.

But what I really love about the story is the intimacy. Vash is coming home and home for Vash is split in two places, right? You have like the capital H home where he checks up on you know, Nai and the humans he left behind and you know, his people, and then he has home, you know, softened italicized with Meryl.

And it is just so beautiful. Just like just from the intro from the opening Dom had me like, Oh, this is gonna be great. And then Dom delivers like this knockout of Meryl like, like Vash is looking for Meryl. Like he walks in you know, normally he’s expecting her to be like right there. and he’s like like “maybe she’s asleep. Maybe that’s why Oh,” and she’s on the stairs in his big red coat jacket thing. And that’s it.

And you know you’re reading it and you can like feel the horny brain slap. you can feel him go.. “Oh Time to pound”. And it is so much fun. Like there’s like a little chase up the stairs that is just really wonderful. At regular points through the document, you have me like in the file going, “I’m going to gnaw my own arm off”, “I’m going to chew my arm off. This is so perfect. I’m screaming.”

And it’s because Dom does this really excellent job at really making the moment — of making it feel like you’re getting this glimpse into Vash and Meryl’s very intimate love life and their very, very active sex life. Like part of why that was edging her for so long is like that heightened pleasure of denial, like once you get it, you get it. But it’s also like he’s been without for so long. And so what he wants is to satiate himself, between her thighs, and it’s just like, this is incredible, like, and it felt really I – would say in character, I have written all of three three Trigun sTampede stories on my own. So like, I’m like, I think I get these characterS. But it felt like really like, “oh, this this fits this would be what it would be like when Vash comes home. When Vash comes home to Meryl”,

And it was very much like it was just such fucking good food. How about that? Just fucking good food like Vash giving into the possessive instinct, thoughts of like romantic ownership, like Meryl is his he is Meryl’s. He wants to leave marks all over her because the ones from last time had faded.

And it is just so thrilling. It is intoxicating. To read this, and Dom writes in such a way that you kind of get like pulled along, you’re swept into the scene, into the waves of it. You know, like you’re sitting there and you are like, carried away just as much as Vash is, or Meryl is. And I also think that Dom’s dialogue and kind of sense of wit are really good. Like, it felt like the narrative voice was great  — narrative voice in porn great.

But it was also that the character voices felt like I could, with a little like squinting. Imagine that the characters were saying them in their voices, the dub, because you know, My Japanese is bad. It’s bad.

And it was just such a treat to beta, such a treat to read. And I’m, I’m actually doing this in lieu of a in lieu of a comment right now. Like, I’m gonna type up my my comment, like, and put it in there. But like right now this is like this was so much more important. I needed to let y’all know that you needed to read this and you needed to become as obsessed with this, as I am.

Vash and Meryl, was one of the ships that I like, super casually shipped as a tadpole weeb back in the day. But there’s something about Trigun Stampede and how fic writers like Dom you know, weave these like, feelings together that just like it just hits it just hits. I don’t think people say things slap anymore, but if they did, this would slap. Right?

I really just want to read more of Dom’s VashMeryl. I literally was like “so once I learned how to collaborate with people we should write together” because I was so overwhelmed and so pleased by Dom’s writing and her grasp of Vash and Meryl’s VashMerylness. And I just want more of this. Maybe not more of a 10,000 word fuckfest because woooow. That delivered.

But more of more of the small and large intimacies, more of the domesticity, more of what it’s like to have a home. A Vash and Meryl-shaped home. So if you love porn, you love VashMeryl, you love Trigun Stampede, you love reading 10,000 words of porn in one sitting….
