First, I’ve spent about two weeks knowing I was sick and several days before that telling myself that I wasn’t.

So I’m once again behind Despite My Best Efforts.

I have to figure out how to get to the clinic that takes my – not actually crappy – insurance so I can do a follow up, but I’m probably fine for now. I’m working my way through my emails and getting in touch with people about things I missed because I was sick and trying to catch up so… I’ll be in your inboxes, apologizing profusely.

And I’m not gonna lie… this experience really made me want to revisit self-publishing so that I can work on writing and releasing the work that I’ve got half-done. I’m going to do my best to finish more of my F/F stuff so that I can try to get a collection out by the end of the year! Wish me luck, babes!

Third, I have returned to Teen Vogue from my very lengthy hiatus that, in hindsight, wasn’t very smart as I am poor.

I’ve been trying to figure out what to do/when to do it for ages. A huge issue is that I’ve been struggling with the fear of being harassed for what I write – hilarious because this is all coming from people who proclaim themselves to be actively anti harassment in fandom. But I get it now: I could shrivel up and die and there’d still be snide asides about me made regularly. So I might as well write what I want and eventually get paid for it.

So I kickstarted Fan Service with EndOTWRacism Wants to Make Fandom Safer for People of Color where I said spicy but objectively correct things like:

If you position yourself as opposed to anti-racism in a space or situation, you are racist. If you only support anti-racism measures from people who will talk how you want, say what you want, and hold the hands of racists in fandom like you want… you are a racist. If you’re lying about fans of color you don’t know and have never spoken to or read in good faith in order to devalue their work or comments on racism in fandom, you are a racist. If you are derailing, dismissing, and undermining anti-racist efforts in fandom because you think fandom will be irreparably damaged and that, somehow, AO3 will collapse under the weight of being judged for a thing that fans of color have been talking about for its entire lifetime… you are racist and so is fandom. To flip the Ibram X. Kendi quote around: the opposite of “anti-racist” is “racist,” and if you refuse to be anti-racist in fandom or anywhere else because you don’t like the tone, methods, or identities of the people of color speaking on something that has actively harmed them? You’re… you’ve guessed it: a racist.

Because a lot of really spiritually ugly people really think actively coming out as against anti-racism efforts in fandom specifically because they think I’m behind it or that Tiffany G is behind it or that the people actually behind it are minions doing my order… doesn’t mean that they’re racist.

The girlies were out here demanding that people against racism be “publically tarred and feathered” while saying that they weren’t slapped enough as children… oh and that this is all my plot to take over the OTW and ban Reylos from fandom… which is silly, I don’t care about that ship as much as people think (the fans, yes, because they’re frequently racist as shit but the ship… not at all, it’s actually too vanilla for me) and I don’t work for free.

Also, can I just say that it’s wild to see people – associated with the End OTW Racism movement and not – get accused of harassing and bullying a WEBSITE for gently bringing up something they said they’d do three years ago… Like… you know… a website isn’t a person and you can’t bully it? Much less from being like “oh wow sucks that this hasn’t been done yet, feels bad as a POC” about it lo. Anyway, the main event for End OTW Racism is over, but I’m sure there’ll be more things coming considering anti racism is a process and the OTW is chock full of board members and volunteers who want to get in the way of that process! (And I’m assuming the comments here where they acknowledge the End OTW Racism efforts are full of that same rank racist attitude we’re trying to point out is everywhere in fandom! Go check it out lol)

And finally, I’m writing fic again. If you’re on Extra Priv on Twitter – not my main account or my old account but a third, worse account – you’ll know that I’ve been writing just a very large amount of what the kids call “darkfic” for Jujutsu Kaisen. Maybe. it’s not particularly dark to me but I know the one ship I’ve written… thousands of words for since January – up from zero words prior to that lol – is widely disliked because it’s about a violent curse and the guy he kills in canon. I’m also starting he process of writing fic for Trigun Stampede and Chainsaw Man!!
